I wanted it to feel like the moment when something ancient locks its gaze with yours—no distance, no escape. That’s why I brought the composition in so close. There’s no body, no landscape, no context. Just the eye. Just the stare.
The pupil is a sharp vertical slit, almost like a blade cutting through the center. I made it deep black so it feels bottomless—like you could fall into it. Around it, I built layers of red and orange, colors of heat and life, but also warning. I let the brushstrokes radiate outward in jagged lines to give the iris a pulse, like it’s alive and vibrating.
